Brislington U13 (0) v Fry Club Colts U13 (4) 09/04/06

Brislington are unfortunate to be short of a player and start the game with only 10 boys.

This doesn’t show to start of with them winning most of the balls and challenges. They nearly make a breakthrough in the 12th minute when their striker bursts through from midfield but is topped by an excellent challenge by Myles Jefferies.

Fry’s started to pick up their game and Jack Babers looping shot looked like it was going to dip in under the bar but went just high.

Tom Hooper is having a good game at the back with some solid defensive play. Fry’s keep getting chance to open the scoring but their first touch at controlling the ball is letting them down.

Frys’ have a few more clear chances in the first half and Tom Ashley is holding up well in the Fry’s goal, but the whistle goes for the break with the score at 0 – 0.

Strong talk by the manager drums into the boys that more desire and passion is needed to win this game. Fry’s had an ideal chance to do the double on Brislington this season, and now was the time to do it.

This seems to have had an affect, as right at the start of the 2nd half a corner is whipped in by Justin Skinner and is met by the head of Jack Baber who opens the scoring 1 – 0.

Soon after it’s 2 – 0 when from a throw in, the ball is laid back to Dan Buley on the edge of the area who fires in on his second attempt.

15 minutes in to the half and Buley gets his second when Baber finds him with an accurate pass and he chips the keeper, 3 – 0.

Fry’s seem comfortable now and start to pass the ball around well.  This is rewarded when Harry Pople hits a long range shot from outside the area into the net for 4 – 0.

A couple of substitutions are made seeing the introduction of John Cotgreave and Lewis Marcham.

The good play continues all over the pitch and Fry’s are unlucky not to get a 5th which was ruled offside.

Final whistle goes with the score at 4 – 0. It was a good performance in the 2nd half.

This was definitely a game of 2 halves with the half time managers’ talk obviously paying off.
